| Fact used | Source |
|---|---|
| Skills (this experience): Spectator safety at mascletàs, castillos and the cremà (pyrotechnics and crowds); Reading a falla: ninots, satire and the Ninot Exhibition vote; Crowd etiquette in a city-wide festival | Skills research, checked 2026-10-04 (IST) |
| Difficulty (our estimate): Beginner; prep time (our estimate): 30–45 minutes reading. Difficulty and prep time are Curiosta editorial estimates for a first-timer, not organiser figures. | Curiosta editorial estimate |
| Refresher, practice and safety steps: Fallas are giant satirical monuments made of ninots (figures) by local artists and neighbourhood committees, then burned on 19 March (the cremà). Visit the Ninot Exhibition and vote for the figure to be pardoned from the flames. / Mascletàs (daytime firecracker barrages) are extremely loud: Valencia's fire service advises standing behind barriers, following staff and keeping your mouth slightly open to protect your ears. Ear protection is sensible. / Arrive by public transport, avoid crowd crushes and choose spots with space; stand with the wind at your back to avoid falling debris. / On mascletà days the area around Plaza del Ayuntamiento bans bikes, scooters, prams, wheeled suitcases, glass bottles and other throwable objects at set times. / Don't climb benches or bus shelters; keep children by the hand; leave calmly without pushing. / In an emergency, tell security staff or call 112 with your exact location. / Read the city's pyrotechnics advice and the easy-read 7 tips before you travel. / Pack foam earplugs and practise the 'mouth slightly open' habit at a Diwali fireworks show. / Learn a few Valencian/Spanish words (falla, ninot, mascletà, cremà). / Ear protection at mascletàs; stay behind barriers. / No prams, bikes, scooters, wheeled cases or glass near Plaza del Ayuntamiento at mascletà times. / Emergency number 112. | Our summary of the resources below |
